Coleman Sterling, CEO, ENERGY worldnet, Inc., did a presentation at the TGA Transmission Roundtable on implementing succession and knowledge transfer plans for companies.
By 2020, 90% of the baby boomers will be retired, and the time to begin preparing to replace their leadership is well upon us. Companies need to begin identifying successors now, hiring for places they don’t see a successor, and developing training programs to groom leaders with varying learning styles.
Sterling emphasized the importance of tracking the progress of a plan and looking for opportunities for trial runs such as vacations and sharing responsibilities through cross-training.
